Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Renual Energy collects, where it comes from, how we use it, and who we share it with. It covers our website, renualenergy.com, and the mail and email we send to people who may be interested in our program.
If you become a Renual customer, the agreement you sign will also govern how we handle information related to your service, including data from any equipment installed at your property. Where that agreement and this policy differ, the agreement controls.
Who we are
Renual Energy is operated by Ross Gruber, a sole proprietor doing business as Renual Energy (“Renual,” “we,” “us”). You can reach us at hello@renualenergy.com or by mail at:

The short version
- We collect what you send us through our contact form or by email, plus basic information about how our website is used.
- If you choose to connect your utility account, we receive your utility bills and energy usage through our partner Bayou Energy, and we use them to size a solar and battery system for your property.
- Our website does not use cookies, advertising pixels, or tracking technologies that follow you across other websites.
- We use your information to reply to you, to evaluate whether your property is a fit for Renual, and to send you updates about our program, which you can stop at any time.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We use a small number of service providers, named below, to run our website, email, and records.
Information we collect
Information you give us
Through our contact form. When you submit the form, we receive:
| Information | Required? |
|---|---|
| Your name | Yes |
| Your email address | Yes |
| Your property’s ZIP code | Yes |
| Whether you are a renter, property owner, property manager, or something else | No |
| Anything you write in the comment box | No |
When you email or talk with us. If you contact us directly, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your name, contact details, information about your property, and the contents of your message.
Through our utility-data link. If you choose to connect your utility account, you sign in to your utility through a form provided by our partner, Bayou Energy, which appears inside our page. You enter your utility username and password into Bayou’s form, not ours. They go to Bayou, which uses them to collect your utility data on our behalf. Our website never sees them, and Bayou does not share them with us. Bayou then sends us the information your utility makes available for that account, such as:
- the name, contact details, service address, and account number on the account;
- your past utility bills; and
- your past energy usage, including detailed meter readings where your utility provides them.
Bayou’s form asks you to accept Bayou’s own privacy policy for its handling of your information. This policy covers what Renual does with your utility data.
If the utility-data link fails. If the connection fails, our website automatically emails us an error report so we can help you. It contains a description of the error, the time it happened, and your browser type. It does not include your utility login.
Information collected automatically
Website analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how our website is used: how many people visit, which pages they view, which website referred them, the general type of browser and device they use, the country they are visiting from, and how quickly pages load. This tool does not use cookies or similar identifiers, and it does not identify you or follow you across other websites. We see this information only in aggregate.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider (Cloudflare) that automatically records basic technical information about each request, such as IP address, date and time, browser type, and the page requested. This is used to deliver the website and protect it from abuse and attacks.
The Bayou form. Nothing from Bayou loads until you choose to connect your utility account. Once it does, Bayou’s form uses your browser’s local storage and session storage to work. It sets no cookies. Bayou uses its own service providers to run the form.
Email engagement. Some of our marketing emails use standard technology that tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to understand which messages are useful and to avoid sending ones that are not. Most email programs let you block it by turning off automatic image loading.
Information from other sources
To let people know about Renual, we may obtain names, mailing addresses, email addresses, and property details from public property records, including parcel data from property-data providers and ownership information from title companies, and from commercially available business and marketing lists. We use this information to send mail and email about our program. You can ask us to stop at any time; see Your choices.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- reply to your questions and requests;
- evaluate whether your property may qualify for Renual, including which utility serves it;
- determine the optimal size of the solar and battery system for your property, using the utility data you share with us through Bayou;
- anonymize and aggregate electricity data to improve our internal processes and tools;
- send you information about Renual by mail or email, including program updates and offers;
- keep records of our conversations with prospective customers and partners;
- understand and improve our website and our outreach;
- keep our website and systems secure and prevent misuse; and
- comply with the law and protect our rights.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for advertising, and we do not give it to data brokers.
We share information only with service providers who help us run Renual, and only so they can provide that service to us:
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts our website, processes contact form submissions, and provides our website analytics |
| Resend | Delivers contact form submissions and website error reports to our inbox |
| Bayou Energy | Connects to your utility account at your request, and delivers your utility data to us |
| Google Workspace | Our business email, where we read and reply to your messages |
| Slack | Our internal team messaging, where we may discuss inquiries |
| HubSpot | Our customer records system, and the service we use to send marketing email |
Bayou may also use the data it collects for us in aggregated or de-identified form to improve its own services, as our agreement with Bayou allows.
We may also share information:
- with our professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidentiality;
- if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Renual, our customers, or others; and
- if Renual’s business is transferred. We expect to form a company to operate Renual, and if we do, or if Renual is ever sold, merged, or reorganized, your information will move with the business and remain covered by this policy.
Your choices
Stop marketing email. Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at hello@renualenergy.com. Even after you unsubscribe, we may still reply to messages you send us.
Stop mail. Email us with the name and mailing address the mail was sent to, and we will remove it from our mailing list. Mail that is already printed or in transit may still arrive.
See, correct, or delete your information. Email us at hello@renualenergy.com to ask what information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep information we are legally required to keep.
Delete your utility data. Email us at hello@renualenergy.com to have the utility data you shared through Bayou deleted.
Don’t use the contact form. The rest of our website works without it.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for as long as it is useful for our relationship with you, for example while you are considering Renual, or for as long as you remain on our mailing list, and as long as we need it for legal, tax, or record-keeping purposes. If you ask us to delete your information, we will, except for anything we are required to keep.
Utility data. We keep the utility data you share with us through Bayou until you ask us to delete it. We will never sell your utility data to a third party. Data we have anonymized and aggregated no longer identifies you, so it is not covered by a deletion request.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our website does not track visitors across other websites or over time, and we do not allow third parties to do so on our website, so there is nothing for the signal to change. We treat every visitor the same way whether or not the signal is sent.
California privacy rights
California law lets California residents ask whether a business has shared their personal information with third parties for those third parties’ own direct marketing. We do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.
Security
Information sent through our website is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and our service providers protect the information they hold for us with their own security programs. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed without authorization. We limit what we collect to what we need, which is the best protection we have.
Children
Our website and program are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
Renual serves properties in the United States only. Our website is intended for people in the United States, and information we collect is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business changes. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information we already hold, we will also make it prominent on our website before the change takes effect.
